Which port do the ships use?

Roatan has two cruise ports, about three miles apart on the south coast. Coxen Hole (Port of Roatan) takes Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, MSC, Celebrity and most other lines, and puts you in the island’s capital with shops and restaurants at the pier. Mahogany Bay (now branded Isla Tropicale) is Carnival-owned and serves Carnival, Princess and Holland America; it has its own beach you can walk or ride a chairlift to.

Neither is on West Bay. That beach is a 30 to 45 minute taxi from either pier.

When is the island quiet?

September and October are the quietest months, with some weeks bringing only a handful of ships. December through April is the busy season, when four to six ships can share a single day.

What time do the ships arrive and leave?

Earlier than most people expect. Arrivals are often between 5am and 7am, with all-aboard in the late afternoon, commonly 3pm to 5pm. Exact times are set by the cruise lines and published about a week ahead, so this page shows them once they are confirmed.

Where does this schedule come from?

Every call on this page comes from Anacaribe, the port agent that handles berthing for both of Roatan’s cruise ports. Ships and ports are taken from their published monthly calendar; arrival and departure times are added as their weekly schedule is released.
